Rock4Change with Aid Still Required
Thursday, August 28th, 2008Announcing The Rock4Change Concert for Darfur and Uganda Thursday, September 4th, Gibson Amphitheater
We are so psyched that Aid Still Required has been chosen as a beneficiary of the Rock4Change Concert next Thursday September 4th at the Gibson Amphitheater (formerly the Universal Amphitheater) in Los Angeles. If you’ve never been to The Gibson, it ROCKS! It’s considered one of THE prime places to hear music in the country.
Actor/comedian Dane Cook is hosting so it promising to be an entertaining night. Who knows what to expect?!?! And we are especially excited that Tom Morello ( Rage Against the Machine, AudioSlave, The Nightwatchman) and Flea (bassist of Chili renown) are performing.
Flea is performing a once-in-a-lifetime-never-to-be-duplicated improvisation with his colleagues, John Frusciante, also of Chili renown, Josh Klnghoffer and Stella Mozgawa, the incredible Ozzie chick drummer. We met Flea at last month’s Darfur Now Roundtable, hosted by Aid Still Required, Derek Fisher, Don Cheadle, in association with Participant Media. In addition to being a huge Laker fan, Flea has been awesome, passionate about making a difference, passionate about getting the word out to his fans and to young people in general. More on our 5 Dollar Advocate Campaign with Flea soon.
Tom Morello is coming directly from the airport to join us at the concert. He has been on tour with Rage, who is appearing in both Denver and Minneapolis to keep both the Dems and the Repub pols on their toes and in touch with what is real in this country.
We’ll be meeting a lot of other great musicians that night as well, like Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band. And Shane Sparks of So You Think You Can Dance is gonna surprise us with an original history of African dance…
One of ASR’s new friends is Rupak Ginn, current star and hearthrob of the new Cheetah Girls: One World movie. Rupak also attended our Darfur Roundtable and moved us with his desire to speak out whenever and wherever he can. He brought his wife, Nancy Redd, author of Body Drama and a terrific role model and source of information for young women.
Net ticket proceeds will fund our Reforestation Project for Sudan and the work of Hands Across Nations in Uganda.
Please come and hear some great music and help the people of Darfur and Uganda!
